BERLIN, Sept. 13 (Xinhua) -- Wolfsburg managed to fight back to draw 1-1 away at Fortuna Dusseldorf, missing the chance to take the Bundesliga top place on Friday.
Dutch striker Wout Weghorst's smart finish earned Wolfsburg the equalizer in the first half after a brilliant strike from Niko Giesselmann had put Dusseldorf in front.
Wolfsburg would have gone top with a win but instead must settle for second, one point behind leaders RB Leipzig who will host third-placed champions Bayern Munich on Saturday.
Dusseldorf moved up a place to 11th on goal difference with four points from four games so far.
