BUCHAREST, Sept. 13 (Xinhua) -- A play called Tr-e-e staged by the China National Theatre for Children touched the young audience Friday evening in Tandarica Children's Theatre here.

Scriptwriter Feng Li told Xinhua that the story is named Tr-e-e as the ginkgo tree, the only role in the play, always experiences separation: separation from hometown, separation from companions, separation from friends, and even separation from herself.

"Through every migration and separation of this small tree, people gradually discover that the world around them is constantly changing, becoming more and more environmentally friendly," added Feng, who is also an artistic director of the Chinese theatre.

In the show, actress Tang Yan, in a yellow dress symbolizing the leaves, alternated narration with singing and onomatopoeic sessions such as baby's giggles and cat's miaows, making the young audience laugh. From time to time, she climbed down the stage to clap hands with the children sitting in different rows.

"I liked everything in the show very much. I liked how she was dancing and when she came to us," Petru, a boy aged 5, said after the show.

Pertu watched another Chinese show last year with his father Ionut who said that "Petru was captivated by the emotions transmitted by the actors."

Eric, a boy aged 7, said he enjoyed the show very much. "What I liked most was the romantic moments. It was very touching."

Ion took his six-year-old daughter Dorina to see the show, saying Dorina watched the whole performance attentively.

Most parents said they were attracted by the performance and rated it as high class, although they said that it was a bit tiring to follow the Romanian translation on the screen and continually explain the plot to their children.

"Daddy told me the story from the screen because I cannot read yet," Petru said.

Calin Mocanu, director of the Tandarica theatre, told Xinhua that the Romanian audience are relatively familiar with the traditional Chinese children's plays, but knew little about modern ones, and the play "Tr-e-e" has filled the gap.

"Tr-e-e" was invited to participate in the eight-day Bucharest International Festival of Contemporary Animation Theatre "ImPuls", which will last until Thursday.
