THE HAGUE, Sept. 15 (Xinhua) -- A racing car drove into spectators during an award ceremony at an auto cross event in Leende in the Dutch province of North Brabant on Sunday, leaving several people wounded, local police stated.

Two people, a 21-year-old man and a 17-year-old woman, have been arrested and taken to the police station. Four people, including two men, one woman and one boy, got injured and were taken to the hospital. Three others received medical treatment on spot for minor injuries.

Whether the driver was intent to drive into the audience is yet unclear. The police said that "maybe a quarrel preceded the incident". After the incident, a fight arose, and the police had to intervene.

"We will start an investigation and the two suspects will be heard," the police stated.
