BEIJING, Sept. 17 (Xinhua) -- Yang Jiechi, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, met with Gustavo Montalvo, minister of the presidency of the Dominican Republic here on Tuesday.

Yang, also director of the Office of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the CPC Central Committee, said bilateral relations have developed rapidly since China and the Dominican Republic established diplomatic relations.

Yang commended the progress made by the Dominican Republic in economic and social development and said China is willing to work with the Dominican Republic to conscientiously implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, enhance political mutual trust, expand practical cooperation and friendly exchanges, and strengthen communication and coordination on major international and regional issues.

Montalvo congratulated the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China and praised China for its remarkable achievements over the past 70 years, especially in the past 40 years of reform and opening up. He said the Dominican Republic is committed to developing mutually beneficial cooperation with China in various fields.
