BANGKOK, Sept. 19 (Xinhua) -- The Thai Broiler Processing Exporters Association on Thursday said in Bangkok that current soaring pork prices in China have led to an over 700 percent increase in Thailand's chicken exports to China between January and July 2019.

Kukrit Arepagorn, the Manager of the Thai Broiler Processing Exporters Association said that the African Swine Fever (ASF) scare in China has given rise to Thai chicken meat export to the country, with the total volume of exported meat to China reaching 33,500 tons from January to July this year.

"That is a 712 percent year-on-year increase," said Kukrit, "this figure has made China the third largest export market for chicken meat from Thailand, after Europe and Japan."

Kukrit also said that recently, officials from General Administration of Customs of China came to Thailand for a safety inspection of 10 poultry factories and are awaiting results of outcome.

"Currently, there are 7 chicken factories in Thailand which are certified by the Government of China and which can export frozen chicken meat and products to the country," said Kukrit, "should more Thai chicken meat pass the assessment, exports will increase further."
