KUNMING, Sept. 19 (Xinhua) -- The 2019 "Belt and Road Colorful Yunnan" Kunming International Tennis Tournament will be held from October 12 to 20 at Wenquan Peninsula International Tennis Center, Anning City, southwest China's Yunnan Province.
A total of 16 teams from China, South and Southeast Asia are expected to take part in the tournament.
The organizers have sent invitations to over 10 countries and regions in South and Southeast Asia, including Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, India, and Pakistan. Delegations of high-level tennis players will be selected from tennis associations or federations of participating countries.
The tournament includes men's and women's singles, doubles and mixed doubles for adults as well as players under the age of 16.
For the tournament, 16 teams are divided into four groups to compete in a round-robin format, with top two teams in each group advancing to the knockout stage.
The tournament is co-sponsored by the China Tennis Association, Yunnan Sports Bureau and Kunming Municipal People's Government, with a total prize fund of 1 million yuan (about 141,000 U.S. dollars).
