Top German symphony orchestra to hit stage in Beijing

BEIJING, Sept. 20 (Xinhua) -- Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester (DSO) Berlin, one of Germany's leading orchestras, will perform in Beijing at the National Center for the Performing Arts on Oct. 16.

"Violin Concerto No.1" by Shostakovich, who was born in the Soviet Union in 1906 and well known as a prestigious composer, and Austrian musician Mahler's "Symphony No.1" will be performed to bring the audience a melodious night.

The concert will be conducted by Robin Ticciati, who became the music director of the DSO Berlin in the 2017-18 season, and feature violinist Nicola Benedetti, who has enjoyed working with many prestigious orchestras including London Symphony Orchestra, London Philharmonic Orchestra and New York Philharmonic.

Tickets for the performance are on sale and range from 180 yuan (about 25.45 U.S. dollars) to 880 yuan.

The 73-year-old ensemble, first founded with the name of RIAS Symphony Orchestra, has borne its current name since 1993. It has conducted a number of music tours to multiple countries and regions including Brazil, Argentina, Malaysia and Japan.
