Mavericks sign Japanese guard Yudai Baba

WASHINGTON, Sept. 20 (Xinhua) -- The Dallas Mavericks announced on Thursday that they have signed Japanese guard Yudai Baba, but the team did not disclose the terms of the deal.

Baba helped the Alvark Tokyo win their second straight title of the Japanese basketball league in 2018-19 after averaging 10.8 points, 4 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.5 steals per game in 64 games. He also took home the Final MVP honor after producing 12 points and 12 rebounds in the championship game against the Chiba Jets Funabashi.

Baba averaged 4 points and 2.3 rebounds per game for the Mavericks' 2019 summer league squad that competed in Las Vegas. He also played for Japan in the just-ended men's basketball World Cup held in China.
