China interbank money market turnover falls in August

BEIJING, Sept. 21 (Xinhua) -- China's interbank money market saw 82.8 trillion yuan (about 11.7 trillion U.S. dollars) in transactions in August, down 10.18 percent year on year, data from the People's Bank of China showed.

The pledged repo turnover went down 6.92 percent to 70.5 trillion yuan, while the outright repo turnover plunged 34.24 percent to 800 billion yuan.

Interbank borrowing turnover decreased 24.44 percent from a year ago to 11.5 trillion yuan last month.
