China's liquor-making industry reports stable growth in January-July

BEIJING, Sept. 22 (Xinhua) -- China's liquor-making enterprises above the designated size saw a total revenue of 485 billion yuan (about 68.57 billion U.S. dollars) in the first seven months of this year, according to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT).

The reading was up 7.3 percent compared with the same period last year, the ministry said.

During the January-July period, profits of the 2,122 producers grew 19.1 percent year on year to reach about 95 billion yuan, the MIIT said.

Chinese liquor-making enterprises above the designated size saw their output reach 4.56 million kiloliters in the first seven months, up 1.1 percent year on year.

During the same period, the output of breweries above the designated size totalled about 24 million kiloliters, a 0.3-percent rise from a year ago.
