BUIKWE, Uganda, Sept. 24 (Xinhua) -- Tanzania and Kenya have qualified for the quarterfinals at the on-going regional Council for East and Central African Football Association (Cecafa) Under-20 Challenge Cup taking place in Uganda.

The two teams settled for a 2-2 draw in a Group B match played here in the central Ugandan district of Buikwe on Tuesday.

The teams joined Uganda, Sudan, and Burundi who qualified for the quarterfinal stage on Monday.

After 29 minutes, Kenya's Austine Otieno Odhiambo dribbled past the Tanzanians defenders and shot past goalkeeper Ally Salim Katoro. But after 10 minutes Tanzania leveled matters with Andrew Albert Simchimba scoring his fourth goal of the tournament.

The two teams returned recharged in the second half with a more physical approach.

Patrick Otieno put Kenya back into the lead after 52 minutes, capitalizing on a well taken Musa Masika Wanyama cross.

Tanzania did not give up and responded quickly with a goal after 56 minutes through Abdul Hamis Suleiman.

Kenya now top Group B with four points and a better goal difference than Tanzania who also have the same points.

Tanzania will face Zanzibar, while Kenya take on Ethiopia in their last Group B matches on Thursday.

The group stage of the regional tournament will climax on Thursday before the quarterfinal on Sept. 29. Semifinals will be played on Oct. 2 while the finals will be on Oct. 5.
