German shares fall Wednesday

FRANKFURT, Sept. 25 (Xinhua) -- German stocks edged down on Wednesday, with the benchmark DAX index down 72.97 points, or 0.59 percent, to close at 12,234.18 points.

European health care company Fresenius SE lost 2.59 percent, the top loser among the blue chips, followed by global internet technology and financial services provider Wirecard and airlines Lufthansa, which lost 2.38 percent and 2.28 percent respectively.

Deutsche Bank gained 0.48 percent, becoming the top gainer. Manufacturing and electronics company Siemens and automotive manufacturer Volkswagen advanced 0.46 percent and 0.44 percent respectively.

Wirecard was the most traded share with a turnover of 181.5 million euros (199.3 million U.S. dollars). Enditem
