JAKARTA, Sept. 27 (Xinhua) -- The Chinese embassy in Timor-Leste hosted a reception in Dili to mark the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.
Hermenegildo Augusto Cabral Pereira, minister of state of the presidency of the council of ministers of Timor-Leste, attended the event on Thursday, saying that China is a respectable friend and good partner of Timor-Leste, wishing China continued development and prosperity.
Pereira praised China's great development achievements over the past 70 years. He said based on the principle of mutual respect, equality and mutual benefit, Timor-Leste and China enjoy excellent bilateral relations, across a broad spectrum of political, economic, trade, education and culture, defense and security as well as people-to-people relations.
He stressed that Chinese enterprises have carried out cooperation projects which have made positive contributions to Timor-Leste and improved the people's livelihood.
He assured that Timor-Leste will continue to take part in the Belt and Road Initiative by strengthening relations and working with China towards further development of bilateral cooperation.
Chinese Ambassador Xiao Jianguo said China has always been the good neighbor, good friend and good partner of Timor-Leste, and the Belt and Road Initiative brings new opportunities for both countries.
Xiao stressed that China will further strengthen its strategic alignment with Timor-Leste, deepen cooperation in various fields, support more projects related to the people's livelihood, and promote the comprehensive cooperative partnership to a new level.
