COTONOU, Sept. 27 (Xinhua) -- The Chinese ambassador to Benin Peng Jingtao on Thursday reiterated the pledge of China "to support the Benin government in its path for development and national modernization".
The ambassador offered dinner as part of the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's republic of China in the economic capital Cotonou.
The dinner gathered several representatives of diplomatic bodies in Benin and governmental officials.
Herve Djokpe, representing Benin minister of Foreign affairs and cooperation , said the great achievement of China is a source of inspiration for the government of Benin.
An exhibition of about one hundred photos showed China's development over the last 70 years.
The west African nation set up diplomatic relations with China in 1964.
