WARSAW, Sept. 27 (Xinhua) -- Youth-led demonstrations for climate were held in many major cities of Poland including the capital Warsaw on Friday.
In Warsaw, the municipality made public transport available for free on Friday in support of the strike.
The Warsaw demonstration, gathering thousands, started in the central Plac Defilad (Parade Square) and finished at the Polish Sejm, the lower house of parliament.
"Together, let us show that climate is a priority. We can still halt the next climate changes. We can reduce CO2 emissions and reform farming. We can produce energy in alternative ways, change our transportation, warm our houses differently. We can change our food production system, safeguarding forests which are key to absorbing CO2. These are our biggest challenges at the moment," the organizers of the Warsaw demonstration wrote in their online appeal to join the event.
In Krakow, southern Poland, the afternoon march had various symbolic stops, including science institutions to mark the scientific consensus on climate change.
