CAIRO, Sept. 30 (Xinhua) -- Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi delegated on Monday Presidency Secretary Hossam Zaatar to the Chinese Embassy in Cairo to extend his greetings on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.

During a meeting with Chinese Ambassador Liao Liqiang, Zaatar, on behalf of President Sisi, conveyed greetings to Chinese President Xi Jinping and the people of China on the occasion of National Day on Oct. 1 every year.

"President Sisi was keen to delegate an envoy to the embassy, which reflects the strength of the relations between the two nations," Zaatar said.

Liao thanked President Sisi, saying the Chinese-Egyptian relations have been elevated to comprehensive strategic partnership and the two countries have together made many achievements.

He stressed that the Chinese embassy in Cairo will spare no effort to achieve aspirations of the two countries' leaders and the Chinese and Egyptian peoples.

Egypt was the first Arab and African country to establish official ties with the People's Republic of China, and the two countries elevated their relations to the level of comprehensive strategic partnership in 2014.
