SINGAPORE, Oct. 1 (Xinhua) -- Singaporean stocks closed higher on Tuesday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) going up 0.83 percent, or 26.04 points, to close at 3,146.03.
A total of 596.61 million shares changed hands with a turnover of 720.36 million Singapore dollars (about 519.74 million U.S. dollars). Gainers outnumbered losers by 206 to 140.
The STI index went down 0.18 percent, or 5.64 points, to close at 3,119.99 Monday.
