TEHRAN, Oct. 1 (Xinhua) -- Iran national volleyball team lost to Russia 25-21, 25-18, 24-26, 25-22 at the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) Men's World Cup on Tuesday, Tehran Times daily reported.
The game was played at the White Ring Hall in Japan's Nagano.
Yaroslav Podlesnykh led the Russian team with 18 points and Milad Ebadipour scored 18 points for Iran.
Iran will meet Egypt on Wednesday.
Japan hosts this event for the 20th consecutive time since 1977.
