PRAGUE, Oct. 2 (Xinhua) -- Czech pop singer Karel Gott, who died at the age of 80, will be honored with state funeral, local media reported Wednesday.
Czech cabinet decided at a special meeting Wednesday to stage a state funeral for Gott, and his funeral day will be a national mourning day. But the plan still needs consent from the Gott family.
Furthermore, the cabinet tasked ministries and other government offices to lower national flags to half-mast.
Gott died late Tuesday at home in Prague after battling leukaemia for a period of time.
Gott, who released some 300 albums since the 1960s and sold tens of millions of copies worldwide, was regarded the most popular pop singer in the Czech Republic.
