BERLIN, Oct. 3 (Xinhua) -- Hans-Joachim Watzke might soon travel to Madrid to start negotiations on 20-year-old Moroccan Achraf Hakimi.
The Borussia Dortmund CEO confirmed the Blacks and Yellows intention to buy the defender and midfield-winger from Real who joined the German side in summer 2018 on loan for two years.
Hakimi scored two goals when Borussia outpaced Slavia Prague in their Champions League group by 2-0 this Wednesday evening might increase Dortmund's efforts after the side failed to include a buying option to his on-loan contract.
Watzke said Real is well equipped on Hakimi's position. "I don't hear from him; he feels home-sick. My impression is he is comfortable with us," the 60-year-old commented announcing: "We will do all possible to sign him for good. It is no secret we want to keep him as he fits well."
Real coach Zinedine Zidane recently said he is keeping an eye on his former players' development, adding that to get playing time in Dortmund will increase Hakimi's chances to reach the next level.
The 18-time capped Madrid-born left-back was his country's first player to win the Champions League (in 2018) and the first Moroccan to play for Real. As only one of six African footballers, he had managed to score for the Royals.
Now he became the first Moroccan to score two goals in a Champions League game.
Dortmund's sports director Michael Zorc called Hakimi "man of the match" having delivered an outstanding performance helping the struggling side to overcome its crisis after three games without a win.
"He is a vital part of our squad due to his variability as he can play in the back-row and midfield. Today he decided the game in the Czech Republic for us along the left flank," the former professional emphasized.
Hakimi turned out to be the 2012 German Champions powerhouse in Prague and might as well be an option for Swiss coach Lucien Favre doing the job in the left midfield. "He has enormous sprinting qualities, and I think his favorite position is the left side in midfield," former Liverpool professional and TV pundit Dietmar Hamann commented.
Dortmund's midfielder confirmed Hamann's statement when delivered a breathtaking run over 60 meters after capturing the ball scoring the lead. Only seconds away from the final whistle followed by the 2-0.
Dortmund managed to score its first goals in the 2019/2020 Champions League season and kept its goal clean for the second time after a goalless draw against Barcelona in their curtain-raiser.
Watzke called the victory the first step "as we need to learn to fall in love with good results and not with good football only." Zorc added the team lately forgot about satisfying results. Dortmund couldn't win all of its last three competitive games before traveling to Prague.
German international Marco Reus called the three points the first step to overcome the team's difficulties due to an improved fighting spirit after several unsatisfying results "we were not happy about."
Dortmund secured a comfortable position in their group with four points in advance of their away game against Inter Milan.
