BEIRUT, Oct. 3 (Xinhua) -- Louis Lahoud, director general of the agriculture ministry, said that Lebanon will not import any product from the countries that do not buy Lebanese agriculture produce, local media reported on Thursday.

"We have a problem in our agricultural agreements with other countries. We will review these agreements in a way that would allow Lebanon to treat other countries based on reciprocity," Lahoud was quoted as saying by Elnashra, an online independent newspaper.

He also said "it is time now" to work in favor of Lebanon's balance of trade.

Lebanon's trade deficit for the first three months of 2019 stood at 4.09 billion U.S. dollars, larger than 3.99 billion dollars a year ago.

Lahoud added that Lebanon encourages expatriates to work on promoting Lebanese production all over the world.
