WARSAW, Oct. 4 (Xinhua) -- AC Milan coach Marco Giampaolo believed that his Polish striker Krzysztof Piatek will start to score more goals, although the 24-year-old had a poor start of the season.

"I can't lose my faith in him even if he failed a few times, as he is our most prolific striker," said the Italian before Saturday's clash against Genoa.

Piatek was the third top scorer of Serie A with 22 goals last season but was out of his form in the early stage of the new campaign, scoring only twice in six games.

"I cannot allow myself to put him on the bench as he is our most prolific player. I still rely on Piatek, even if he failed a few times. If he wasn't on the pitch, who would score? Of course over the season I will give him some time to catch a breath, but the important players must be ready to play," stressed the coach.

Giampaolo is under fire due to Milan's poor form. According to the media, the Italian's future on San Siro is on doubt.

"The players must give their lives for the shirt, not for me. I see great enthusiasm in the locker room. My players believe in me. It's not about the individual interests, it's about the team and we feel we must improve. We should rebuild our mental strength to achieve a success," added Giampaolo.

Milan currently rank the 16th with six points, only one point over the relegation zone. Enditem
