German shares edge up Friday

FRANKFURT, Oct. 4 (Xinhua) -- German stocks edged up on Friday, with the benchmark DAX index up 87.56 points, or 0.73 percent, to close at 12,012.81 points.

Multinational chemical and pharmaceutical company Bayer won the most among the blue chips, with its shares up 2.74 percent. Aircraft engine manufacturer MTU Aero and energy group RWE rose by 2.57 percent and 2.32 percent respectively.

German airlines Lufthansa lost the most among the blue chips, falling 3.20 percent. Multinational building materials company HeidelbergCement and Deutsche Bank went down by 1.40 percent and 1.31 percent respectively.

Bayer was the most-traded share, with a turnover of 294.1 million euros (322.8 million U.S. dollars). Enditem
