LONDON, Oct. 5 (Xinhua) -- Tottenham Hotspur captain Hugo Lloris suffered a dislocated elbow after only three minutes into the match on Saturday as the North London club lost to hosts Brighton 3-0 in the eighth round of the Premier League.

Lloris, 32, failed to hold a cross in the third minute with Neal Maupayj nodding in the ball. The French goalkeeper injured his left arm after this unsuccessful save and was stretchered off, receiving oxygen as well.

Spurs then released a statement on the club's official website, confirming Lloris sustained a dislocated elbow during the match.

"Assessment will continue this coming week to ascertain the full extent of the injury and the length of time he will require to undergo rehabilitation," read the statement.

The French international is likely to miss the two upcoming Euro 2020 qualifiers where France will play against Iceland and Turkey on October 11 and 14 respectively.
