VILNIUS, Oct. 8 (Xinhua) -- The Homeland Union-Lithuanian Christian Democrats (TS-LKD), Lithuania's conservative opposition's party, takes the lead in the country's party rankings with 19.2 percent of voters claiming that they would vote for TS-LKD if the parliamentary election were held now, a new poll revealed on Tuesday.

According to the survey conducted by pollster Spinter Tyrimai on Sept. 18-27 and published by the local news website Delfi.lt, 14.6 percent of voters would now vote for the ruling Lithuanian Farmers and Greens Union (LVZS), and 9 percent would support the Social Democrats.

The Liberal Movement and Labor Party would get 5.2 and 5.0 percent respectively.

A similar poll conducted back in July showed 18.2 percent voters' support for TS-LKD and 11.5 percent support for LVZS.

"Support for LVZS increased but this is not a significant change. They (LVZS) play one of the key roles on the political scene, and the overall scenario did not change significantly," Ignas Zokas, head of Spinter Tyrimai, was quoted as saying by Delfi.lt.

Lithuania will hold the next parliamentary election in October 2020. A 5-percent threshold is needed for a party to secure seats in the Lithuanian Parliament.
