SHANGHAI, Oct. 8 (Xinhua) -- Nearly 200 kg of Italian dough reached Shanghai's Yangshan Port Tuesday to be made into bread and pastry for the upcoming second China International Import Expo (CIIE).

It took 34 days for the ship, run by the China COSCO Shipping Group, to transport the dough from Italy to the port.

The dough, which has not been fermented, was kept at constant temperature during the whole-journey cold chain shipment to ensure its quality so that visitors can taste fresh and authentic Italian bread during the CIIE, according to the COSCO Shipping Group.

Yangshan Port authorities said they streamlined clearance procedures to allow the imports to enter the next stage of storage and transportation in the quickest way.

Italy signed a memorandum of understanding with China on the Belt and Road Initiative in March and is among the guest countries of honor for this year's CIIE.

Over 3,000 enterprises from about 150 countries and regions have signed up for this year's CIIE, scheduled for Nov. 5 to 10, among them more than 250 of the world's top 500 or leading companies.
