Cambodian PM to embark on 3-nation tour to Europe

PHNOM PENH, Oct. 11 (Xinhua) -- Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen will visit Czech, Hungary, and Bulgaria from Oct. 13 to 17 to promote ties and cooperation, said a foreign ministry statement on Friday.

Hun Sen will begin his three-nation tour with Czech on Oct. 13-14 and will hold a meeting with his Czech counterpart Andrej Babis to discuss various aspects of bilateral cooperation, the statement said.

"The two prime ministers will also exchange views on regional and international issues of common interest. Thereafter, they will witness the signing of a number of documents on bilateral cooperation," it said.

In the second leg of the tour, the Cambodian prime minister will travel to Hungary for the third Budapest Water Summit on Oct. 15 at the invitation of Hungarian President Janos Ader, the statement said.

It added that Hun Sen will deliver a speech at the opening session of the summit focusing on Cambodia's priorities, strategies and clear work programs towards achieving effective and sustainable water resources management and development.

"His remarks will also address the needs for the shared efforts in water security and environmental sustainability, and other challenges such as the trend in global warming, the increase of the world population, and conflicts over transboundary water use," the statement said.

On the third and the final leg of the visit, Hun Sen will visit Bulgaria on Oct. 15-16 and hold talks with his Bulgarian counterpart Boyko Borissov to discuss various bilateral, regional, and international issues of mutual interests and common concerns, it said.

"At the conclusion, the two prime ministers will witness the signing of a number of bilateral cooperation documents," it added.
