TRIPOLI, Oct. 12 (Xinhua) -- The Embassy of Italy to Libya on Saturday revealed that it had delivered tons of medicines to the southwestern Libyan city of Ghat in 2019, a city declared stricken a few months ago due to floods.
"Italy is proud of ongoing cooperation with the Libyan government in support of Ghat's urgent needs," the embassy tweeted.
"In 2019, Solidarity Bridge delivered several tons of medicines and sophisticated medical equipment requested by the municipality," the embassy said.
The embassy also confirmed that additional aid will be delivered in the coming weeks.
The city's municipal council declared several people in Ghat, a stricken city earlier in June, had been killed by floods, and public and private properties were damaged.
Ghat is located some 1,400 km southwest of the capital Tripoli, near the Algerian border.
