WARSAW, Oct. 13 (Xinhua) -- Poles have begun voting on Sunday in a parliament election, with Poland's ruling Law and Justice party (PiS) tipped for win.
Voting polls opened on Sunday morning across the country and will stay until 9 p.m.
Poles are to elect 460 members of the Sejm, the lower house of the parliament, and 100 senators of the Senat, the upper house of the parliament.
The d'Hondt method will be used for allocating seats in the Sejm, which is thought to favour larger parties.
The latest polls showed PiS enjoyed clear favorites in voter preferences, while four other groupings and alliances had chances of crossing the electoral threshold which is 5 percent for parties and 8 percent for coalitions.
Over 30 million Poles have right to vote.
According to a CBOS research before the election, 72 percent of Poles said they intended to show up at the polls. In the last three Polish parliamentary elections, around 50 percent actually voted in person.
