JAKARTA, Oct. 15 (Xinhua) -- The shipment of Indonesia's products offshore reached 14.1 billion U.S. dollars in September, the national statistics bureau said on Tuesday.

The figure fell 5.74 percent year-on-year, and exports of non-oil and gas products decreased 2.70 percent to 13.27 billion U.S. dollars in September year-over-year, the bureau said.

The cumulative of exports by September drifted lower 8 percent to 124.17 billion U.S. dollars on yearly basis.

The imports edged down 2.41 percent to 14.26 billion U.S. dollars in September from a year ago.

Import of raw materials dropped to 10.257 billion U.S. dollars in September 2019 from 10.902 billion U.S. dollars in the same period of last year.

But, shipment of capital goods edged up to 2.594 billion U.S. dollars in September 2019 from 2.382 billion U.S. dollars in September 2018.

Trade balance in September swang to a deficit of 160.5 million U.S. dollars after registering a surplus of 85.1 million U.S. dollars in August due to a deficit in oil and gas sector of 761.8 million U.S. dollars.

Strengthening U.S. dollar against rupiah amid rising global oil prices have increased the cost of oil imports for Indonesia, a net oil importer.

Indonesia's export and import have drifted lower on yearly basis in recent months, except in June when import moved up, as the global economic uncertainty has cut demand and prices of Indonesia's exported products most of them commodities, and weakened economic activities.
