SOFIA, Oct. 15 (Xinhua) -- Bulgarian law enforcement authorities have busted a seven-member organized criminal group responsible for blackmailing, an official said here on Tuesday.
Six of the gang members were arrested on Monday, when 40 searches and seizures were carried out, spokesperson for the Specialized Prosecutor's Office Siyka Mileva said at a press conference.
The seventh gang member is serving a life sentence for killing two people by blowing up their car, Mileva said. He kept in touch with the rest of the group through an app on his cell phone, Mileva said.
The gang has been active since the end of 2016 on the territory of Burgas Region along the Black Sea coast, and has been blackmailing wealthy businessmen through threats and violence, Mileva said.
