2019 Cameroon International Cycling Tour underway

YAOUNDE, Oct. 17 (Xinhua) -- The 19th edition of the International Cycling Tour of Cameroon, dubbed the Grand Prix Chantal Biya, opened in the country's eastern town of Dimako on Thursday.

The competition will run from October 17 to 20, with teams from Cameroon, Rwanda, France, Netherlands and Slovakia taking part.

According to organizers, the race will include four laps. The last and longest lap, scheduled on Sunday, will cover a distance of 166.4 km from Sangmelima, a town in the southern region, to the capital Yaounde.

The tour is organized by the Cameroon Cycling Federation every year under the supervision of the International Cycling Union. The race is named in honor of Cameroon's First Lady Chantal Biya.
