BEIJING, Oct. 18 (Xinhua) -- China has launched an inspection of the previous two rounds of crackdowns on gangs and organized crime, which wrapped up in August.

A total of 11 inspection groups will be sent to 21 provincial-level regions, as well as the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, spending around 10 days in each locality.

Inspectors will look into the rectification of the problems discovered in the previous crackdown campaigns, such as dereliction of duty and the "protective umbrellas" that shelter gangs, according to the office of the leading group of the national crackdown on gangs and organized crime.

They will also help local authorities specify measures, better fulfill their duties and set the timetable of the rectification, maximizing its effect, the office said.

The inspection is expected to conclude before Nov. 15.
