Ukraine's former agriculture minister killed in helicopter crash

KIEV, Oct. 21 (Xinhua) -- The former minister of agriculture and food of Ukraine Taras Kutovyi was killed in a helicopter crash in Poltava region, central Ukraine, Ukrinform reported on Monday.

The State Emergency Service of Ukraine received the information at 4 pm Kiev time that a Robinson-44 helicopter crashed in Poltava region on Monday afternoon. The helicopter belonged to Taras Kutovyi. The body of a man was found at the crash site.

The advisor to the Ukrainian minister of internal affairs Mikhail Apostol confirmed on his Facebook page that it was Taras Kutovyi who was killed in the crash.

The Prime Minister of Ukraine Oleksiy Honcharuk expressed his condolences to the family and friends of the former minister on the tragical death.

"I just found out about the terrible tragedy that took the life of Taras Kutovyi. Sincere condolences to the family and loved ones of Taras. Eternal memory!" wrote Oleksiy Honcharuk on his official Twitter page.

The police and the emergency services still work on the crash site to establish the details of the accident.
