MOSCOW, Oct. 22 (Xinhua) -- Pyongyang is interested in regular dialogue with Moscow through the legislative branches, Pak Thae Song, chairman of the Supreme People's Assembly of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), said here on Tuesday.

"To develop relations, it is necessary to put exchanges of delegations and contacts at various levels between the two parliaments on a permanent basis, and also enhance cooperation at international parliamentary venues," Pak said during a meeting with Russian State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin.

He also proposed to give a new impetus to the activities of the Russia-DPRK intergovernmental commission on economic, scientific and technical cooperation so that the legislative bodies could create legal grounds for increasing bilateral trade.

"We need to do everything in our power so that inter-parliamentary relations develop more intensively and become more effective so that we could discuss issues which concern the citizens of our countries, and do everything possible to develop relations between our peoples," said Volodin for his part.

"We believe that relations should be based on the principles of mutual respect, non-interference in the sovereign affairs of other states," Volodin said, adding that there should be unified approaches between countries without double standards.
