SHENYANG, Nov. 3 (Xinhua) -- Police in northeast China's Liaoning Province have arrested 27 suspects for organizing online gambling involving about 88 million yuan (12.5 million U.S. dollars), according to local authorities.

The police found a man surnamed Jin, 41, had set up and ran an online gambling website in Shenyang and the coastal city of Dalian in May, involving many people and large amounts of money, according to the Public Security Bureau of Shenyang, Liaoning.

A special team was set up by the police to investigate illegal activities and locations.

On Sept. 18, police launched raids and arrested the suspects in Shenyang and Dalian. A total of 108 bank cards were seized.
