KUWAIT CITY, Nov. 5 (Xinhua) -- Kuwait welcomed the signing of a power-sharing deal between Yemen's internationally-recognized government and the Southern Transitional Council (STC), Kuwait's Deputy Foreign Minister Khaled Al-Jarallah said Tuesday.

"We welcome the signing of an agreement between the Southern Transitional Council and the legitimate Yemeni government in Riyadh," al-Jarallah told reporters on the sidelines of a reception held in German Embassy in Kuwait.

"We appreciate the role of Saudi Arabia in achieving this consensus and enabling the two parties to sign this vital and important agreement, which is the gateway to peace and peace negotiations between the Houthis and the legitimate Yemeni government," he stressed.

The agreement lays a solid foundation for consensus among the Yemeni parties in the south so that they can form a government capable of managing peace consultations in the future in Yemen, he added.

Yemen's internationally-recognized government on Tuesday signed a power-sharing deal with the STC in Saudi capital of Riyadh.
