TOKYO, Nov. 7 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks ended essentially flat Thursday as investors were in a circumspect mood about a possible delay in the signing of a key partial trade deal between two major economies, although upbeat earnings from some domestic firms helped underpin the market.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 26.50 points, or 0.11 percent, from Wednesday to close the day at 23,330.32.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, gained 3.68 points, or 0.22 percent, to finish at 1,698.13.
Precision instrument and nonferrous metal issues led notable gainers, while iron and steel, and marine transportation-linked issues comprised those that declined the most by the close of play.
