India, Indonesia navies hold maritime exercises

NEW DELHI, Nov. 7 (Xinhua) -- Indian Navy's anti-submarine warship "INS Kamorta" has held a joint maritime exercise with Indonesian warship "KRI Usman Harun", a multi-role ship, as part of the India–Indonesia bilateral exercise "Samudra Shakti" in the Bay of Bengal, said Indian naval sources on Thursday.

The joint exercises from Wednesday to Thursday included manoeuvres, surface warfare exercises, air defence exercises, weapon firing drills, helicopter operations and boarding operations.

The Indonesian warship arrived at Visakhapatnam in south India on Monday to participate in the second edition of "Samudra Shakti".

The harbour phase which was conducted on Monday to Tuesday included professional interactions in the form of Subject Matter Expert Exchanges (SMEE), cross deck visits, simulator drills, planning conferences, sports fixtures and social interactions.
