German shares down 0.44 percent at start of trading on Monday

BERLIN, Nov. 11 (Xinhua) -- German stocks were off to a shaky start into this week's trading with the benchmark DAX index losing 58.38 points, or 0.44 percent, opening at 13,170.18 points on Monday morning.

The biggest winner among Germany's largest 30 companies at the start of trading was building materials producer HeidelbergCement, increasing 0.35 percent, followed by medical company Fresenius with 0.24 percent and financial service provider Wirecard with 0.19 percent.

Shares of Siemens fell by 1.57 percent. The German technology giant was the biggest loser at the start of trading on Monday.

The German software company TeamViewer, a developer of remote connectivity solutions, announced on Monday that its turnover increased by 39 percent to a total of 102 million euros (112.5 million U.S. dollars) in the third quarter of 2019.

In September, TeamViewer had netted more than 2 billion euros in Europe's largest initial public offering (IPO) this year so far.

The euro increased by 0.10 percent on Monday morning local time, trading at 1.1026 U.S. dollars

Wholesale prices in Germany declined by 2.3 percent year-on-year in October, Germany's Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) announced on Monday.

Petroleum products, for which wholesale prices declined by 13.7 percent in October, would have had the "largest influence on the overall development" of wholesale prices in Germany in the previous month, Destatis noted.
