JAKARTA, Nov. 13 (Xinhua) -- The Indonesian National Police have identified the suspect of the suicide bombing at the police station in North Sumatra province's capital of Medan on Wednesday.

The name of the suspect is Rabbial Muslim Nasution, a 24-year-old man who is identified as a university student, the National Police's spokesman Dedi Prasetyo told a press conference.

"The suicide bomber is suspected a lone wolf," he said in the National Police headquarters in Jakarta.

Prasetyo said, however, it was likely that the suspect had links with terrorist groups.

Police have seized some items, including nine-volt batteries, metal plate, nails and switch buttons. They are currently conducting the DNA testing on the suspect's body.

On Wednesday morning, Nasution allegedly pretended to apply for police clearance certificate at the police station. Wearing a familiar jacket of a ride-hailing company, the man then blew himself up in the parking area at the police station.

Earlier, officers in the station had inspected the suspect's bag, but did not find any dangerous items in it.

Prasetyo said the suspect, who died instantly at the scene, allegedly wrapped detonated explosives around his waist.

The bombing incident has injured at least six people and damaged four vehicles in the parking lot, according to the police.

Police have investigated the home of the suspect in Medan and seized some materials including arrows and documents. Meanwhile, the suspect's family, consisting of one man and three women, is currently questioned by the police.

Security in around 20 airports and police stations across the country has reportedly been tightened following the deadly incident.
