Local police commander among 4 killed in N. Afghanistan

KUNDUZ, Afghanistan, Nov. 14 (Xinhua) -- A group of militants loyal to the Taliban outfit attacked a security post in Khan Abad district of the northern Kunduz province on Thursday, killing four, including a local police commander, a district official Qudratullah Safi said.

The incident happened in Chartoot area of the restive district early Thursday and resultantly Abdul Salam a commander of the pro-government militiamen and three of his men were killed, the official asserted.

In a similar attack on Wednesday, militants, equipped with machine-guns and rocket launchers, attacked an area in the eastern Kapisa province some 65 km east of Kabul, killing two policemen and wounding three others including Khalid Mashal the provincial Police Chief.
