Uganda names 20-player squad for regional women's football tournament

KAMPALA, Nov. 14 (Xinhua) -- Uganda coach Faridah Bulega on Thursday named a squad of 20 players for the 2019 Council of East and Central African Football Associations (CECAFA) Senior Women's Challenge Cup.

The regional tournament will take place in Dar es salaam, Tanzania from November 16-25.

"We have prepared well and named a strong team that should be able to win the regional trophy," Bulega told Xinhua before the team traveled to Tanzania.

Uganda will open their Group B campaign with a game against Djibouti on November 17.

Team captain Ruth Aturo told Xinhua that it will be good to start with a win so that the team gets the right momentum for the tournament.

The other teams in Group B are Ethiopia and Kenya.

The teams in Group A are defending champions Tanzania, Burundi, Zanzibar and South Sudan who will be making their first appearance in the tournament. Enditem
