HONG KONG, Nov. 16 (Xinhua) -- Hong Kong Disneyland park presented Awa Odori dance, a traditional Japanese dance performance from Tokushima on Saturday to celebrate Hong Kong-Japan Tourism Year, and invite tourists to experience different traditions and promote cultural exchanges between China's Hong Kong and Japan.
During the Awa Odori dance in the afternoon, performers wore traditional costumes, and chanted and sang as they paraded through the main street at the park.
Around 300 guests including representatives from the Consulate-General of Japan in Hong Kong, the Tokushima government and the Hong Kong Tourism Board were invited to watch this performance.
"We're proud to bring the renowned Japanese Awa Odori dance to our guests at the park. It's truly inspiring to learn from another culture, and we look forward to more opportunities in the future for the promotion of cultural exchange and tourism development," said Stephanie Young, the managing director of Hong Kong Disneyland Resort
The Awa Odori dance has over 400 years of history in Tokushima, said Gotoda Hiroshi, the vice governor of Tokushima Prefecture. "We're proud to present this dance here, and we hope it will further promote cultural exchanges between Japan and Hong Kong," he added.
