German shares lose 0.57 percent at start of trading

BERLIN, Nov. 21 (Xinhua) -- German stocks were off to a shaky start on Thursday, with the benchmark DAX index losing 75.14 points, or 0.57 percent, opening at 13,083.00 points.

The biggest winner among Germany's largest 30 listed companies at the start of trading was German car manufacturer Daimler, increasing 0.14 percent, followed by housing company Vonovia with 0.06 percent.

Shares of Wirecard fell by 1.66 percent. The German financial service provider was the biggest loser at the start of trading on Thursday, followed by chip manufacturer Infineon declining by 1.42 percent.

Shares of German steel giant thyssenkrupp fell by more than 11 percent after the company reported a net loss of 305 million euros for the fiscal year, mainly caused by "continued high import pressure on steel" and a "massive rise in raw material prices."

Suffering from the "massive reduction in interest rates," Helaba, the state bank of Hesse announced on Thursday that the consolidated result over the first nine months had decreased by 4 percent to 349 million euros compared to previous year's results.

The euro was almost unchanged, increasing slightly by 0.01 percent on Thursday morning, trading at 1.1078 U.S. dollars.
