BERLIN, Nov. 22 (Xinhua) -- German stocks were almost unchanged at the start of trading on Friday, with the benchmark DAX index increasing by only 8.07 points, or 0.06 percent, to 13,145.77 points.
The biggest winner among Germany's 30 largest listed companies at the start of trading was dialysis specialist Fresenius, increasing 0.74 percent, followed by Deutsche Bank with 0.66 percent and German pharmaceutical company Merck with 0.56 percent.
Shares of Covestro fell by 0.28 percent and the German producer of high-tech polymer materials was the biggest loser at the start of trading on Friday. However, shares quickly went up by almost 2 percent at early trading.
Germany's economy grew slightly in third quarter by 0.1 percent, the German Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) said on Friday, adding that "positive contributions" had come from consumers as private household consumption increased by 0.4 percent on the previous quarter.
On Friday, German Finance Minister Olaf Scholz (SPD) is scheduled to give a lecture on the perspectives of the European monetary union in Frankfurt.
The euro was almost unchanged, increasing slightly by 0.01 percent on Friday morning, trading at 1.1063 U.S. dollars.
