TEHRAN, Nov. 23 (Xinhua) -- The Iranian embassy in London has filed a formal complaint with the British Office of Communications (Ofcom) against "hostile" Persian-language satellite TV channels based in Britain, Tasnim news agency reported on Saturday.
The Iranian embassy has sent a formal letter to Ofcom to complain against "the Persian-language Britain-based TV channels, including Iran International, BBC Persian and Manoto, for their politically-motivated misreporting on the recent developments in Iran and calling for widespread violence against Iranian civilian institutions," Iranian Ambassador to London Hamid Baeidinejad was quoted as saying.
Following a hike in the price of gasoline last week, a number of Iranian cities saw protests that turned violent in some cases. A number of banks and government buildings were set ablaze.
The Ofcom is the government-approved regulatory and competition authority for the broadcasting, telecommunications and postal industries of Britain.
