Dutch Krol wins men's 1,500m at ISU Speed Skating World Cup

TOMASZOW MAZOWIECKI, Poland, Nov. 23 (Xinhua) -- There was no surprise in the men's 1,500m at ISU Speed Skating World Cup here on Saturday, as Dutchman Thomas Krol set a new track record of 1:45.768 to take the crown.

After the first lap, Krol was slower than the Japanese Masaya Yamada, but then he beat his rivals.

Dutch Olympic champion from Pyeongchang Kjeld Nuis finished second, followed by Russian Denis Yuskov. The only Chinese skater in the competition, Ning Zhongyan, got 7th with 1:47.403.

After two rounds of the ISU Wordl Cup, Kjeld Nuis sits the top with 114 points, followed by Krol with 108 points. Ning Zhongyan gained 72 points so far to take the 5th place.
