CAIRO, Nov. 24 (Xinhua) -- The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has released its list of nominees for the 28th edition of its annual football awards.
The list of nominees is compiled by a panel of media and technical professionals, CAF said, with categories including African Player of the Year, Coach of the Year, Youth Player of the Year, National Team of the Year, Goal of the Year, Africa Finest XI and Federation of the Year.
30 male players have been nominated for the African Player of the Year award, including Egypt and Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah, who has won the award for the past two years.
Other leading nominees include Salah's teammate Sadio Mane of Senegal, Gabon and Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, and Algeria and Manchester City winger Riyad Mahrez.
CAF added that there will be several new award categories which will recognize exceptional contributions to African football and inspiring individuals.
The Interclubs Player of the Year Award has been reintroduced and will be dedicated to honoring key figures in CAF's club competitions.
The awards ceremony will take place on January 7, 2020, at Citadel Azure in Hurghada, Egypt.
