ACCRA, Nov. 25 (Xinhua) -- Ghana and Jiangsu Suning forward Elizabeth Addo has been named on the list of nominees for the 2019 Confederation of African Football (CAF) African Women Player of the Year awards.

Addo is the only Ghanaian to make the 10-woman list released by Africa's football governing body.

The 26-year-old has had a stellar season in the Chinese top-flight, scoring three goals in her 14 appearances to help Jiangsu Suning take the league championship.

The Ghanaian forward also made significant contributions to help her team win three other major trophies this year.

Addo captained Ghana's Black Queens at the 2018 African Women Cup of Nations (AWCON) and was named in the tournament's Best XI despite Ghana exiting at the group stage.

The shortlist includes three-time winner Asisat Oshoala of Nigeria and Barcelona, Thembi Kgatlana (Beijing Phoenix FC) and Tabitha Chawinga (Jiangsu Suning).

The rest are Ajara Nchout, Ange N'Guessan, Chiamaka Nnadozie, Gabrielle Ouguene, Uchenna Kanu and Refiloe Jane.

The list will be whittled to three before the awards gala scheduled for January 7, 2020, at the Citadel Azure, Hurghada, Egypt.

The CAF awards celebrate African footballers and officials who have distinguished themselves during 2019.

The list of nominees is compiled by a panel of media and technology professionals.
